General Description:

Tutorial services are available to all CSU student-athletes. Each semester about 20 tutors are employed to tutor in nearly all major subject areas to meet the needs of the majority of our student-athletes.
Tutors will be provided with continuing education opportunities through semester trainings where they will learn strategies to improve student performance in tutorial sessions
Tutors are sought out by: Individual student-athletes requesting a tutorial session through GradesFirst. Students are placed with a tutor (often in a small group) in weekly scheduled appointments. Individual appointments with tutors are available in specific cases.

Tutorial sessions may take place during normal hours of operation:
Sunday 6:30pm-10:00 p.m.
Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-10:00 p.m.
Friday 7:30am - 5:00 p.m.
The sessions are required to take place within the Anderson Academic Center.

If tutoring is not available in a specific course please contact AA/SS Staff to discuss options.

Intent:

The intent of the AA/SS Tutorial Service Program at CSU is to provide provisional and lasting educational opportunities necessary for greater success and retention among the student-athletes. Tutorial services are essential to the successful support system providing the necessary framework for academic achievement by our student-athletes.
The Tutorial Staff has been hired to assist the AA/SS Staff, ensuring that student-athletes are provided sufficient resources to foster a healthy learning environment. Tutors will communicate knowledge/study skills regarding their designated core subject(s) during weekly working sessions while practicing the highest level of academic integrity.

Goal:

The ultimate goal of SASS Tutorial Services is to provide quality structured review of course material in a variety of subject areas, meeting the needs of all student-athletes. Through consistent weekly meetings, student-athletes will improve content knowledge, study skills, and confidence in the subject matter leading to greater performance in the course.
